明史卷二百九十二 列传第一百八十：
史记言，字司直，当涂人。崇祯中举人，由长沙知县迁知陕州。陕当贼冲，记言出私财募士，聘少室僧训练之。八年冬十一月，流贼犯陕，记言御之，斩数十级，生擒二十余人。老回回愤，率数万人攻城，不克，乘雪夜来袭，而所练士方调他郡，城遂陷。记言纵火自焚，两僧掖之出曰：“死此，何以自明？”乃越女墙下。贼追获之，令降，叱曰：“有死知州，无降知州也！”遂被杀。指挥李君赐杀数贼而死。训导王诚心，里居教谕张敏行、姚良弼，指挥杨道泰、阮我疆，镇抚陈三元，亦不屈死。是月，贼陷卢氏，知县白楹自刭。十年九月陷渑池，知县李迈林死之。记言赠光禄少卿，余赠恤有差。
