刘胤之，徐州彭城人。
旧唐书卷一百九十上 列传第一百四十：
刘胤之，徐州彭城人也。祖祎之，后魏临淮镇将。胤之少有学业，与隋信都丞孙万寿、宗正卿李百药为忘年之友。武德中，御史大夫杜淹表荐之，再迁信都令，甚存惠政。永徽初，累转著作郎、弘文馆学士，与国子祭酒令狐德棻、著作郎杨仁卿等，撰成国史及实录，奏上之，封阳城县男。寻以老，不堪著述，出为楚州刺史，卒。
