晋书卷六十二 列传第三十二：
群字公度，少拜广武侯世子。随父在晋阳，遭逢寇乱，数领偏军征讨。性清慎，有裁断，得士类欢心。及琨为匹磾所害，琨从事中郎卢谌等率余众奉群依末波。温峤前后表称："姨弟刘群，内弟崔悦、卢谌等，皆在末波中，翘首南望。愚谓此等并有文思，于人之中少可愍惜。如蒙录召，继绝兴亡，则陛下更生之恩，望古无二。"咸康二年，成帝诏征群等，为末波兄弟爱其才，托以道险不遣。
石季龙灭辽西，群及谌、悦同没胡中，季龙皆优礼之，以群为中书令。至冉闵败后，群遇害。时勒及季龙得公卿人士多杀之，其见擢用，终至大官者，唯有河东裴宪，渤海石璞，荥阳郑系，颍川荀绰，北地傅畅及群、悦、谌等十余人而已。
