清史稿卷五百五 列传二百九十二：
刘源，字伴阮，河南祥符人，隶汉军旗籍。康熙中，官刑部主事，供奉内廷，监督芜湖、九江两关，技巧绝伦。少工画，曾绘唐凌烟阁功臣像，镌刻行世，吴伟业赠诗纪之。及在内廷，於殿壁画竹，风枝雨叶，极生动之致，为时所称。手制清烟墨，在“寥天一”、“青麟髓”之上。於一笏上刻滕王阁序、心经，字画崭然。奉敕制太皇太后及皇贵妃宝范，拨蜡精绝。时江西景德镇开御窑，源呈赩样数百种。参古今之式，运以新意，备诸巧妙。於彩绘人物山水花鸟，尤各极其胜。及成，其精美过於明代诸窑。其他御用木漆器物，亦多出监作，圣祖甚眷遇之。及卒，无子，命官奠茶酒，侍卫护柩，驰驿归葬，恩礼特异焉。
