刘永一，陕州夏县人。孝友廉谨。熙宁初，巫咸水溢入县城，民多溺死。永一持竿立门前，见他人物流入者辄擿出之。有僧寓钱数万于其室，无何而僧死，永一诣县自言，请以钱归其弟子。乡人负债不肯偿，立焚其券。行事类此。兄大为，医助教。居亲丧，不饮酒食肉，终三年。司马光传之，以为今士大夫所难。
