明史卷一百四十五 列传第三十三：
刘才，字子才，霍丘人。元末为元帅，明兴归附，历营州中护卫指挥佥事。燕师袭大宁，才降。从战有功，封广恩伯，禄九百石，世指挥同知。永乐八年，从北征，督右掖。失律议罪，既而宥之。二十一年偕隆平侯张信理永平、山海边务。明年复从北征，至怀来，以疾还。才悃愊无华，不为苟合，亦不轻訾毁人，甚为仁宗所重。宣德五年卒。
