清史稿卷四百九十八 列传二百八十五：
刘希向，江南山阳人。火，其父入火中求先人木主遗像。希向自外归，突火入，求其父不得，号而出；复入，火方盛，救者以为刘氏父子死矣。俄而墙圮，顾见庭树下人影往来，乃争入负其父出，左奉像，右握木主，希向牵父衣，额半焦矣。后数年，父病，希向为割股，良愈。希向年六十，病噎，其子亦割股，刀钝，肉不决，剪之，乃下，然希向竟不瘳。
