刘崇望，字希徒。其先代郡人，随元魏孝文帝徙洛阳，遂为河南人。八代祖隋大理卿坦，生政会，辅太宗起义晋阳，官至户部尚书，封渝国公，图形凌烟阁。政会生玄意，尚太宗女南平公主，历洪、饶八州采访使。玄意生奇，位至吏部侍郎。奇生慎知，仕至获嘉令。慎知生褧，仕至东阿令。褧生藻，位终秘书郎。藻生符，进士登第，咸通中位终蔡州刺史，生八子：崇龟、崇望、崇鲁、崇谟最知名。
