刘存厚，四川荣县人。
清史稿卷三百九十五 列传一百八十二：
存厚，字仲山，四川荣县人。捐纳刑部主事。好谈兵，侍郎王茂荫疏荐，命赴江南大营，向荣命率勇击贼，辄胜。上海之役，始自领一军，吉尔杭阿甚倚之。克青浦，冒矢石先登，洊保知府。及攻上海，误杀洋妇，洋人愤，将发兵相攻。存厚单骑往曰：“此不足启边衅，请以一身偿。若欲战，虽死不相下也！”卒议偿恤而定。围攻凡数月，方略多出存厚。既克，以首功颁赏荷囊，授江宁知府，记名道员。从攻镇江，夺银山，破瓜洲援贼，争金鸡岭，皆功最。吉尔杭阿以存厚有谋略，故令守高资，及赴援战殁，存厚大恸，力战突围，欲返其尸，中道遇伏，杀贼数百人，马陷淖，被戕。予骑都尉世职，谥刚愍。
