南齐书卷五十五 列传第三十六 孝义：
公孙僧远，会稽剡人也。治父丧至孝，事母及伯父甚谨。年谷饥贵，僧远省餐减食以供母及伯。弟亡，无以葬，身贩贴与邻里，供敛送之费。躬负土，手种松柏。兄姊未婚嫁，乃自卖为之成礼。名闻郡县。太祖即位，遣兼散骑常侍虞炎等十二部使行天下，建元三年，表列僧远等二十三人，诏并表门闾，蠲租税。
