旧唐书卷一百八十一 列传第一百三十一：
何进滔，灵武人也。曾祖孝物，祖俊，并本州军校。父默，夏州衙前兵马使，检校太子宾客，试太常卿。以进滔之贵，赠左散骑常侍。进滔客寄于魏，委质军门，事节度使田弘正。弘正奉诏讨郓州，破李师道，时进滔为衙内都知兵马使，以功授兼侍御史。太和三年，军众害史宪诚，连声而呼曰："得衙内都知兵马使何端公知留后，即三军安矣。"推而立之。朝廷因授进滔左散骑常侍、魏博等州节度观察处置等使。为魏帅十余年，大得民情，累官至司徒、平章事卒。
子弘敬袭其位。朝廷时遣河中帅李执方、沧州帅刘约各遣使劝令归阙，别俟朝旨。弘敬不从，竟就加节制。及刘稹反，不时起兵。镇州王元逵下邢、洺二州，兵次上党，弘敬方出师压境。大中后，宣宗务其姑息，继加官爵，亦至使相。咸通初，卒。子全皞嗣之。朝廷寻降符节，累官亦至同平章事。十一年，为军人所害。子孙相继，四十余年。
