任迪简，京兆万年人。
旧唐书卷一百八十五下 列传第一百三十五：
任迪简，京兆万年人。举进士。初为天德军使李景略判官。性重厚，尝有军宴，行酒者误以醯进。迪简知误，以景略性严，虑坐主酒者，乃勉饮尽之，而伪容其过，以酒薄白景略，请换之，于是军中皆感悦。及景略卒，众以迪简长者，议请为帅。监军使闻之，拘迪简于别室，军众连呼而至，发户扃取之。表闻，德宗使察焉，具以军情奏，除丰州刺史、天德军使，自殿中授兼御史大夫，再加常侍。追入，拜太常少卿、汝州刺史、左庶子。
及张茂昭去易定，以迪简为行军司马。既至，属虞候杨伯玉以府城叛，俄而众杀之。迪简兵马使张佐元又叛，迪简政杀之，乃得入。寻加检校工部尚书，充节度使。
初，茂昭奢荡不节，公私殚罄。迪简至，欲飨士，无所取给，乃以粝食与士同之。身居戟门下凡周月，军吏感之，请归堂寝，迪简乃安其位。三年，以疾代，除工部侍郎，至京，竟不能朝谢。改太子宾客卒，赠刑部尚书。
