周书卷四十四 列传第三十六：
任果，字静鸾，南安人也。世为方隅豪族，仕于江左。祖安东，梁益州别驾、新巴郡守、阆中伯。父褒，龙骧将军、新巴南安广汉三郡守、沙州刺史、新巴县公。
果性勇决，志在立功。魏废帝元年，率所部来附。太祖嘉其远至，待以优礼。果因面陈取蜀之策，太祖深纳之。乃授使持节、车骑大将军、仪同三司、大都督、散骑常侍、沙州刺史、南安县公，邑一千户。
及尉迟迥伐蜀，果时在京师，乃遣其弟岱及子悛从军。太祖以益州未下，复令果乘传归南安，率乡兵二千人，从迥征。寻进授骠骑大将军、开府仪同三司。萧纪遣赵拔扈等率众三万来援成都，果从大军击破之。及成都平，除始州刺史。在任未久，果请入朝，太祖许之。以其方隅首望，早立忠节，乃进爵安乐郡公，赐以铁券，听世相传袭。并赐路车、驷马及仪卫等以光宠之。寻为刺客所害，时年五十六。
