清史稿卷四百九十八 列传二百八十五：
严廷瓒，浙江乌程人。父时敏。族子旸，以姑为明大学士温体仁妻，怙馀势，时敏尝斥其非。旸阳与出游，挤堕水死。廷瓒稍长，闻父死状，讼旸论斩。旸贿上官反其狱，得脱，益肆。廷瓒奉母避长兴，买斧誓复仇。岁还里省墓，遇旸，阳暱就之，旸以为畏己也。母卒，以丧归。方村演剧，旸高坐以观。廷瓒直前斧裂其首，断项，诣县自首。县嘉其孝，欲生之，狱上，按察使将援韩愈复仇议为请，廷瓒遽死狱中，或曰旸家贿狱吏杀之。
